Hobbies
Swimming
I’ve always been a keen swimmer mostly in my local gym or when on holiday. Since I started triathlons over the last couple of years, I’ve been introduced to wild swimming which has given the sport a completely different perspective. Having taken advantage of the facilities at various specialist diving centres as well as exploring The Lake District and North Wales. In 2018 I completed my first open water swimming event at Coniston. My goal for 2019 is to complete three open water swimming events culminating in an iron man distance triathlon in 2020.
Cycling
I’ve always enjoyed cycling both as a leisure activity with friends or as a serious training element in the triathlons. As a member of the Triathlon club of Merseyside (Mersey Tri) I can pursue both options.
Running
Running is my passion and over the last 5 years I’ve probably run thousands of miles, taken part in over 200 running events to date ranging from local park runs to the Great North Run and London Marathon. Running creates so many new and different communities, networks and friendships both in person and on line. Within this time I took an England Athletic Leadership Course and the went on to build an award winning running group. This catered for people with diverse abilities. This was run mainly through Facebook creating a target audience using the online social media tools.
Photography
Photography is a universal language which speaks to people in very different ways. I’ve been an enthusiastic photographer since the first time I handled a professional camera while studying Graphics at Southport College. For me photography is an opportunity to capture a unique moment, share it and preserve it for future generations whether that be from my own perspective, that of my clients or a particularly beautiful aspect of the natural world.
